This popular course elevates your Legal English across the board, and can be taught at Foundation, Intermediate, or Advanced levels. Writing skills focus on developing a good drafting style, editing and proofreading, and writing both formal and informal documents. Participants listen to a range of authentic legal recordings. Speaking practice includes negotiating and advocacy techniques.
ACADEMIC WRITING FOR LAWYERS
Academic English differs from the language of drafting and formal legal documents. This course helps you to understand the conventions and terminology of essays and reports so that you can write with style and gain confidence in your academic output by mastering advanced vocabulary.
LETTER WRITING FOR LAWYERS
This course covers conventions such as how people should be addressed, how a letter should be laid out, and how it should be signed. It also examines the legal requirements of some letter writing, such as in advising of costs and essential information, and in the creation of Letters before Action. Participants consider the degrees of formality needed in letters for different purposes.

LEARNING TO DRAFT EFFECTIVELY
This course allows you to understand the rules behind effective drafting for commercial and legislative purposes. We consider all stages of the process: preparation, researching the law, structuring, and writing clauses. We will consider when the use of precedents is appropriate, and where to find precedents. The course instructs in both contentious and non-contentious drafting.
DRAFTING STATEMENTS OF CASE
Statements of Case have rigid requirements regarding the layout of the writing on the page, such as paragraph spacing and margin width. This course helps you to conform to these guidelines and achieve the necessary level of accuracy in creating these documents.

You will practise with native speakers and understand intricacies such as turn-taking and body language.
